Kids today learnt that we should try not to use styrofoam packaging for food, and if we actually do, to recycle them and perhaps make some prints! Uma and Areta made some drawings on the styrofoam packaging, which we cut to size and rolled some ink on before printing them on coloured papers, which would then turn into their very own sketchbook cover design. We have some videos of the little ones at work.
Let the sketchbooking begin! And see you again next week for the Monster Party Hats workshop where we will make prints from vegetables!

We had a day of book binding until dark, starting with the Japanese binding technique. Here's Sarah and Aziz working hard, and playing harder with loads of jokes. Hahaha! Here's a footage of Azis concentrating on making his marks for punching holes into the side of his book. There's always a lot of noise making when we make holes in the sides of the book with this technique. Next, Diana joined us for the next segment - Frenh Link Binding. Here's a footage of Diana finishing up with the last few stitches of her text block. We had a great time today with you guys! Thank you all for attending this workshop!
Caitlin in our studio today screen printing her 3 Colour artwork 💪🏼 MANTAP! Looks good!
Our studio was overcrowded with visitors from UNIMAS Sarawak this afternoon! The final year students of the Fine Art faculty are in Jogja, accompanied by 2 lecturers. Here are some photos. Here's a sneak peek into one of their travel sketchbooks of Yogyakarta! MANTAP! We hear that they will have to do a report and then organize a show to share their travel experience which involved a little art making and jalan-jalan, so this sketchbook helps them record what they need. Good luck with the exhibition and presentation when you get back! Thank you for visiting Grafis Minggiran! We hope you enjoyed looking around our studio as much as we enjoyed our conversations! Come back soon and we wish you a good trip.

SDKI has got back together to prepare for a show with a new project, SDKI Attack Studio, where the collective works for a period of time with studios based in Indonesia to produce artworks. For their very first edition of this project, they have chosen to 'attack' Grafis Minggiran! Stay tuned for updates on this project. |
